Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A third suspect from what police have said is an extorting gang has been arrested in Cancun. Daniel Jesús “N” was taken into custody last week for extorting 150 Isla Mujeres taxi drivers.
According to State Attorney General Raciel López Salazar, Daniel Jesús “N”, alias Shaggy, extorted approximately 150 taxi drivers on a daily basis. He reported Monday that Daniel Jesús “N” was part of an extortion gang that demanded 200 pesos per day from each driver.

He said the gang members were pulling in 30,000 pesos a day through the extortion scheme through drivers that operate in Puerto Juárez.
López Salazar reported Monday that Daniel Jesús “N” is the third person from the extortion gang to be arrested. He was taken into custody for drug possession while driving in Cancun.
Three days ago, Arturo Misael, alias “Guamuchil”, also part of the extortion group, was located and arrested in Merida, Yucatan.
He was considered the right-hand man of Héctor Elías Flores, alias El 15, who has been in police custody since October.
The gang member heads are from the state of Sinaloa but operated from the city of Merida. Taxi drivers operating in Cancun and Lázaro Cárdenas were also extorted by this same extortion group.
