Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A commercial strategy to advance Made in Playa del Carmen products has been promoted to the U.S. market. Playa del Carmen Mayor Estefanía Mercado says the products were promoted during a recent presentation by the Secretary of Economic Development and Investment Attraction in Orlando, Florida.

“We already have the first results of this promotional campaign for Made in Playa del Carmen products, which we presented at a fair held in Orlando, Florida where our Secretary of Economic Development and Investment Attraction, Antón Bojórquez, actively participated,” she said.
The locally made products are being showcased as a commercial strategy to boost the economy of micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, as well as entrepreneurs, reiterated Mayor Mercado, who emphasized that training is a very important step.
Secretary Bojórquez expressed confidence that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will approve the sale of “Made in Playa del Carmen” products by August of this year at the latest, after certifying that they meet quality and hygiene standards.
Bojórquez emphasized that opening new national and international markets to promote the “Made in Playa del Carmen” brand is a strategy promoted by the Mayor. He says the idea is the result of citizen consultations that led to the development of the 2024-2027 Municipal Development Plan.
“We’re not improvising, we’re promoting the brand so that products made by entrepreneurs and small businesses have a significant impact abroad. Furthermore, brand marketing strengthens Playa del Carmen’s identity, contributing in some ways to the promotion of other brands such as “Ciudad Playa” and the “Let’s Playa” app, which is also being introduced to global markets,” he said.

Products, such as honey, jams, sauces, handicrafts, embroidery, and more, can now be found locally and statewide in markets, terminals, and stations of the Mayan Train, even at airports managed by the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena).
