Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Playa del Carmen motorcycle driver died after hitting a central median Thursday. The man, who has not been identified, was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
The single vehicle accident happened on Juárez Avenue near 35th Street as he drove toward the center of the city. Witnesses who saw the bike fell called emergency services around 7:00 a.m.
According to initial reports, the driver swerved and made contact with the central median.

His front tire hit a section of the concrete that divides the street, causing him to skid.
Witnesses said the driver skidded for approximately 20 meters before coming to a stop. The male driver of the motorcycle was found with his helmet still on.
Red Cross paramedics rushed him to IMSS Hospital in critical condition, however, he died several hours later. A cause for the accident is unknown.
