Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Red Cross paramedics treated two taxi passengers for minor injuries in an intersection accident Monday. The man and woman riding in the mototaxi were treated after their vehicle was hit by a police unit.
The incident happened at the intersection of Azulejos and Sur avenues in Villas del Sol when a Playa del Carmen police vehicle hit a city mototaxi.
According to initial reports, the driver of the police patrol unit failed to completely stop at the marked intersection.

As the driver went through the intersection, he collided with the mototaxi, throwing both backseat passengers out of the unit. The man and woman landed on the pavement.
The driver of the taxi and his two passengers were treated at the scene. Paramedics determined hospital transfers were not required.
The mototaxi was damaged with a dented-in driver’s side due to the impact with the Playa del Carmen police vehicle.
