Cancun, Q.R. — The driver of a pickup truck totaled his vehicle after slamming through the front of a restaurant. Police were at the site of the crash in SM 31 Thursday after reports of the single vehicle mishap.
The police report indicates that the man was driving his Nissan Frontier at excessive speed on Kabah Avenue toward José López Portillo Avenue.
After crossing the intersection with Xcaret Avenue, he lost control of the vehicle and crash into the Tacos Chinampitas restaurant.
The front of the pickup was found embedded in the counter of the restaurant.
Transit officers responding to the accident report arrived to find the driver with “an obvious smell of alcohol”.
He was arrested and his truck eventually towed to the municipal impound lot.
The driver of the pickup was not injured in the accident. Police did not comment on the damage caused to the restaurant.
