Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — The produce being hauled by a semi that overturned was quickly stolen by passing area motorists. On Tuesday, a semi that overturned in Felipe Carrillo Puerto was nearly emptied by nearby residents and passing motorists before police arrived.
Once police were on scene, numerous crates of the produce had already been looted from the highway accident that left the food spilled along the shoulder.
The accident was reported early Tuesday along a section of Polyuc-San Luis in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
The driver, Juan “A”, received only minor injuries. He told police that he was trying to avoid hitting a speeding car that had suddenly appeared in his lane. During the swerve, his unit overturned.
Part of the road was closed while the debris was cleared from the highway and the semi righted and removed.
