Tulum, Q.R. — A woman arrested for killing a homeless man for his cell and sneakers has been officially charged with aggravated homicide. The woman, identified as Mary Karla “N”, was captured on a security camera stabbing the homeless man while he slept on a Tulum sidewalk.

The incident happened September 29 when security footage captured her stabbing the man while he slept on a sidewalk near the intersection of Tulum Avenue and Beta Sur Street.
She is reported to have stabbed him nearly a dozen times about his head and chest before calmly walking away with his cell phone and sneakers. She was arrested the following day and has since been officially charged.
In a statement, police said the Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office (FGE) obtained a charge against Mary Karla “N” for her probable participation in acts that may constitute the crime of aggravated homicide.
According to the investigation, on September 29 of this year on Tulum Avenue and Beta Sur Street, the defendant attacked the victim with a knife while he was sleeping in the street.
The motive for the crime is related to the robbery of a cell phone and a pair of sneakers owned by the now deceased.

The woman was captured on a security camera from across the street.
At her hearing Tuesday, the judge also imposed the precautionary measure of preventive detention for a term of two years or the duration of the trial for Mary Karla “N”.
