Drug trafficking line of investigation into double murder

Cancun, Q.R. — Authorities have located and seized a motorcycle taxi used in the double murder of a couple Monday. A man and woman were gunned down in front of their children in SM 252 in the Vista Real subdivision.

Police say they are investigating a link to drug trafficking as a motive for the double shooting.

The shootings were reported Monday around 4:00 p.m. by neighbors who heard several bursts of gun fire. The bodies of the man and woman were found by police in their front yard.

Their two children, aged four and six, witnessed the shootings. Personnel from the Specialized Group for Domestic and Gender Violence (GEAVIG) removed the children from the home.

According to neighbors, police had been at the home before to conduct a drug search. The State Attorney General (FGE) said they have begun an investigation into the double murder.
