Governor announces new head of State Police five days after replacing last one

Chetumal, Q.R. — Five days after appointing Manelich Castilla Cravioto to head the State Police replacing Lucio Hernández Gutiérrez, the governor has replaced him. On Friday, Governor Mara Lezama announce the new head of the State Police (SSP) as Rear Admiral Rubén Oyarvide Pedrero.

She reported that Oyarvide Pedrero will “immediately strengthen and link” coordinated projects referring to his appointment as the “correct application” of security actions needed in the state.

Manelich Castilla Craviotto, a former Federal Police Commissioner, was removed as Secretary of Security (SSP) of Quintana Roo just five days after taking office.

“Security is a joint task. I will put my best effort into the assignment (…), we have an exciting task ahead of us,” he wrote on his Twitter account after being announced as the head of the SSP earlier in the week.

Governor Mara Lezama decided to make an adjustment in her cabinet and appointed Rear Admiral Rubén Oyarvide Pedrero as the new head of the Secretaría Estatal de Seguridad Pública (SSP) Quintana Roo.
