Cancun, Q.R. — As part of her new legal cabinet, Mara Lezama announced Manelich Castilla Cravioto will head the State Police, replacing Lucio Hernández Gutiérrez.
Castilla Cravioto, who is the former General Commissioner of the Federal Police, has become the state’s new Secretaría Estatal de Seguridad Pública (SSP) of Quintana Roo. Lezama announced his name Friday, but officiated his position Saturday.
Castilla Cravioto assumed the position as commissioner of the Federal Police in 2016 when Enrique Peña Nieto was President of Mexico. Before being appointed as commissioner, he was head of the Gendarmerie Division of the Federal Police.
