Cozumel, Q.R. — Police are investigating the death of a man who was found in central Cozumel. The body of a deceased man was located in a building on Rafael E. Melgar between 11th and 13th Streets South of San Miguel Tuesday night.
Police are working with forensics to determine if the man died of natural causes or sustained injuries that caused his death. The body was found in an abandoned building in a beachfront area often used by homeless people.
According to a Municipal Police officer at the scene, the owners of the property intend to demolish the building, but are waiting on permits.
Forensic Services personnel arrived to remove the man’s body. A legal autopsy will determine the official cause of death while police work to identify the deceased man found.
