Forensics work to identify body found repeatedly passed over in likely hit and run

Cancun, Q.R. — Forensics personnel were tasked with the removal of a body from a roadway Tuesday that had been run over repeatedly. Police were sent to a section of the Cancun highway near the El Porvenir neighborhood after motorists calls.

According to initial reports, the victim was likely struck by a car in a hit and run early Tuesday morning and then passed over by other vehicles until daylight when the body was finally noticed.

Authorities were made aware of the discovery around 6:50 a.m. The body is believed to be that of a man.

State Police, ministerial agents and forensic services cordoned off the area and conduct the necessary investigations, including the removal of the remains. During the collection, the road was temporarily closed causing heavy traffic congestion in the area.
