Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Police are continuing their investigation into the broad daylight murder of a young Isla Mujeres man. The 24 year old was shot repeatedly Thursday while installing a water pump at his home.
The young man’s family has accused his girlfriend’s former boyfriend of the crime. Municipal officers were sent to an address in the Centauro neighborhood of the mainland Thursday afternoon in response to a 9-1-1 call.
At the scene, they found the body of the young man laying dead on the property. Reports say the man had been shot five times. Due to the possibility of a family conflict, officers from the Specialized Group for Attention to Domestic and Gender Violence (GEAVIG) of Isla Mujeres were also called in.
The gunman fled before police arrived. Authorities have not announced the arrest of a suspect.
