Russian resident sentenced to 37 years for Cancun murder

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun resident Aleksei Viktorovich Makeev has been sentenced to just over 37 years in prison for the murder of a local 20-year-old man.

The charges stem from a neighborhood dispute in May of 2017 when Makeev was ambushed by neighbors who stormed his home during which time Makeev attacked and killed 20-year-old Carlos N.

Dubbed as Lord Nazi Ruso, Makeev, who is of Russian nationality, is a temporary resident of Cancun.

He appeared in court Saturday and was sentenced this week to 37 years and six months in prison after a judge found him guilty of homicide. He will also have to pay a fine of nearly 500,000 peso to the victim’s family.

Makeev lived in Cancun with as a temporary resident where he continually uploaded derogatory videos insulting the Mexican people. The videos created a stir among citizens who in May, went to his home.

In December of 2017, Makeev underwent a psychological evaluation after being charged with homicide in the death of Carlos N. There is no word on where Makeev will serve his time.
