Protection against embezzlement charge for Borge denied

Chetumal, Q.R. — The First District Court of Zacatecas has denied the Amparo trial promoted by the defense of former governor Roberto Borge Angulo for embezzlement. The defense requested protection against the charge of embezzlement for the irregular sale of 2.5 million peso of land.

The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Combating Corruption reported the First District Judge ruled that Borge Angulo failed to comply with the conditions for the sale of the land.

For this reason, the Office of the Special Prosecutor in Combating Corruption of the State of Quintana Roo (FECCQROO) will continue with the process for the crime of embezzlement against former Governor Roberto Angulo.

In July, the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) presented evidence before a federal court and obtained an order of appearance for the former Quintana Roo governor on charges of organized crime.
