National Guard arrest Peru passenger from Cancun International after finding coca leaves

Cancun, Q.R. — Elements of the National Guard at the Cancun International Airport arrested one male after he was found transporting coca leaves and flour. The discovery was made by the National Customs Agency of Mexico during a routine inspection.

While processing his hand luggage through an x-ray machine, Customs agents noticed irregular shaped packages. A physical inspection revealed 21 packages of coca leaf and flour, substances known to be used for the processing of cocaine.

The unnamed male passenger, who had landed in Cancun from a Lima, Peru flight, was taken into custody for intending to enter the country with substances prohibited by the General Health Law of Mexico.
