Man wounded in Cancun shooting wanted for homicide

Cancun, Q,R. — The Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo has confirmed the man wounded in a Cancun shooting that involved fake federal police is wanted for homicide.

In a statement, la Fiscalía General del Estado has reported that Raúl Muñoz Aguirre was hospitalized in the municipality of Benito Juárez due to a gunshot wound to his leg. The injury happened during a shootout with a group of men posing as federal police officers earlier this week in Region 92 of Cancun.

During the shootout where Muñoz Aguirre was said to be the intended target, José Oswaldo R.M. from Sinaloa was the man killed. He was found laying on the sidewalk in posession of an FN P-90 automatic submachine gun.

The Attorney General says that Muñoz Aguirre is now in detention due to an outstanding arrest warrant for homicide. They say that once he was treated, he was placed at the disposal of the authorities due to the arrest warrant issued by a Quintana Roo judge.
