Lahun Tiku at Mahahual submits MIAs for phases II and III

Mahahual, Q.R. — Two additional phases of a Mahahual building project have been submitted to Semarnat. The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, through its General Directorate of Environmental Impact and Risk, says they have received the corresponding documentation for additional building of Lahun Tiku.

The Manifestación de Impacto Ambiental (MIA) includes the request to build two additional phases. One phase, Lahun Tiku II will include 60 buildings, while Lahun Tiku III will consist of 28.

According to the Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (Semarnat), both projects include recreational and sports areas that would be interconnected for energy supply purposes with photovoltaic systems.

The planning of the residential area includes the implementation of eco-technologies for water saving and wastewater treatment, as well as a desalination plant and electrical outlets for electric vehicles, the MIA states.

The development is a Banco Actinver project being constructed between the seaside towns of Mahahual and Xcalak in the municipality of Othon P. Blanco. Their first MIA was resolved in April of 2023.
