Holbox to end garbage nightmare after granting 15 year concessions

Holbox, Q.R. — Lázaro Cárdenas city hall has approved two 15-year garbage concessions for the island of Holbox. Mayor Orlando Emir Bellos Tun says that the concessions include the public service of cleaning, collecting and transferring urban solid waste from the island of Holbox to the mainland.

He said the concession opportunity was was presented to three interested companies, seeking to put an end to the tons of garbage that arrives at the transfer site every day.

The concession was granted to two companies, Concretos Sustentables Mexicanos S.A.P.I. de C.V. and jointly, Nómadas Playa S.A. de C.V. and Solución de Residuos Kalan Kuxtal S.A.P.I. de C.V.

The concessioned companies will work together to clean, collect and transfer urban solid waste generated in hotels, restaurants, beach clubs, bars, businesses and house-rooms located on Holbox to the authorized landfill in Kantunilkín.
