Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An overly heavy load of gravel has been said the cause of a dump truck accident outside Playa del Carmen. The large unit overturned north of the city after a shift in load caused the driver to lose control.
The overloaded truck literally lost its balance when the driver took a curve in the highway near Punta Maroma around 11:30 a.m. Friday. The truck overturned onto its side, spilling its load of gravel.
The National Guard arrived as did paramedics who treated the dump truck driver for minor injuries. Several shovels were needed to help clear a portion of the road from the mound of loose gravel.
Due to it’s size and weight, two tow trucks had to be called in to upright the unit.
