Maya Train News — A group of unionized dump trucks drivers blocked access to section 6 of the Maya Train yesterday. The Caja Roja unionized drivers says they have not been paid for two months.
They money is supposed to be paid to the Maya Train workers through the federal government, which in this case is the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), who are managing the project.
“They already owe us two for months. If they want to fire us, let them fire us but pay us. Normally it is 74,000 pesos for 200 hours a month, but they made us work 310 to 315 hours a month,” explained a driver who did not want to be named.
“If they don’t want to pay us, we’re going to place the trucks across the federal highway,” he added.
The upset drivers have called upon their union representative to help support them in receiving payment since to date, no one has responded to their requests. According to the drivers, each one is owed for approximately 600 hours of work already performed, which amounts to around 210,000 pesos each.
It is the second time in as many weeks the drivers have protested their lack of pay.
