Chetumal residents tie alleged petty thief to pole for police

Chetumal, Q. R. — At least two men were responsible for capturing a man and tying him to a public pole for police. On Tuesday, a man identified as being a Chetumal thief was chased and subdued by two area residents.

According to early information, the would-be thief was caught leaving a home with a bicycle he had just stolen. Area residents began a chase that lead to his capture. They had identified him as the person responsible for a string of recent petty thefts of residential items.

The incident happened in the Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood of Chetumal where a group of at least six residents monitored his capture after he was caught with the stolen bicycle. The man was left tied to a public pole at the intersection of Heriberto Frías Avenue and Ignacio Ramírez where Municipal Police found him.
