Chetumal, Q.R. — A Chetumal driver suffered minor damage to his car after mistaking a sinkhole for a pothole. On Saturday night, he accidently drove into what turned out to be a sinkhole, lodging his car in the pavement.
The sinkhole was filled with water after recent rains and appeared to be nothing more than a pothole. Continuing forward, the front wheels of the car fell into the hole, rendering it completely immobile. The accident was reported Saturday night along a city boulevard.
A group of people stopped to help lift the front of the car free from the hole. After several attempts, the vehicle was freed.

Last week, State Civil Protection issued a rain warning for Quintana Roo in which they also advised motorists avoid driving on flooded and heavily puddled streets.
