Acaxochitlán, Hidalgo — A young man performing in the ceremony of the Voladores de Papantla was videoed falling from a height of 15 meters. The accident happened during a performance in Acaxochitlán, Hidalgo when the 25-year-old slipped from his cable and fell.
According to Hidalgo Criterion media, the Papantla flyer suffered multiple fractures, several of which required surgery. The fallen flyer, identified as 25-year-old Antelmo Gómez Hernández, is currently in the General Hospital of Tulancingo with several fractures in an arm, legs, hip and spine.
After the accident, his family reported that he had been performing the flying ceremony since he was 12. The group of seven flyers were invited to participate in the patronal feast of Toxtla, representing Xolotla, a community of Pahuatlán.
