Cancun, Q.R. — A woman who went to a Cancun hospital for labor pains ended up giving birth outside hospital doors. The woman arrived at the hospital for medical attention when her labor pains began.
According to reports, after an evaluation, doctors sent her to “walk” until she was more dilated, however, when she returned, she was not attended to. The woman gave birth on the ground outside with the help of hospital visitors who requested doctor assistance.
Cancun General Hospital staff acknowledged that the woman did arrive for an evaluation and that she was told to walk and return. When she came back, doctors were unable to attend to her because there was a COVID-19 patient in the emergency area.
The hospital said that both the woman and her baby are stable and that they will carry out an investigation into the situation.
