Woman extradited to Arizona for trafficking undocumented immigrants

Mexico City, Mexico — A woman has been extradited to the U.S. on charges of trafficking undocumented immigrants. In compliance with the Extradition Treaty signed between Mexico and the United States, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) of the Republic of Mexico extradited Ofelia “H” to Arizona.

According to the FGR, Ofelia “H” was wanted by the Federal District Court of the District of Arizona for criminal association and trafficking of undocumented immigrants.

“Ofelia “H” was involved in a migrant smuggling operation, which allowed thousands of people from different parts of the world to enter the United States illegally. They were allowed into the U.S. in exchange for a sum of money,” the FGR reported.

Ofelia “H” was arrested in Mexicali, Baja California in March at which time the Government of Mexico began the extradition process. She was transferred to Mexico City International Airport where waiting U.S. federal agents escorted her on a plane to Arizona where she will face charges.
