Tulum Hotel Zone establishment shut for serving outside bylaw hours

Tulum, Q.R. — A Tulum restaurant turned bar at night has been shut down by municipal authorities. City inspectors closed the establishment for failing to comply with the municipality’s new bylaws.

The hotel zone eatery and bar was shut when patrolling inspectors found it opened and operating outside of the allowed hours. While inspectors did confirm the restaurant had legal permits to operate, they were found still serving alcholoic beverages past the allowed time.

Inspectors from the Municipal Treasury proceeded to temporarily close it.

In November of 2022, then Tulum Mayor Marciano Dzul began to enforce the new municipal bylaw that saw hotel zone businesses restricted by noise and operating hours.
