Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two people were rushed to hospital Saturday night from an accident scene outside Playa del Carmen. Paramedics transferred two truck occupants to hospital after their vehicle hit a power pole.
Solidaridad police found the accident scene along the federal highway south of the city of Playa del Carmen. The black Dodge rolled several times before coming to a stop on its passenger side.
According to preliminary information, the unidentified driver was allegedly under the influence and speeding when the truck left the highway and collided with the CFE pole that caused it to overturn.
The vehicle suffered extensive damage. Two people from the front cab received the more serious injuries and were transferred to Playa del Carmen hospital by ambulance. Other responding paramedics treated the two backseat cab passengers at the scene.
Municipal police and firemen stayed at the site to secure the area due to the partially downed pole. During the impact, power lines collapsed onto the highway.
