Taxi driver shot, killed in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen. Q.R. — A taxi driver from the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río union was shot to death Wednesday morning at the intersection of 11th Street South and 140th Avenue in the Ejido area of Playa del Carmen.

Two males on a motorcycle opened fire on the taxi, killing its driver. The vehicle, which was being driven at the time, hit the central ridge, where it stopped. Local police officers arrived and surrounded the area. Four bullet holes were found embedded in the vehicle.

The deceased has been identified as Javier Jiménez Madrigal, ex director of Parque Vehicular del Ayuntamiento of Solidaridad during the administration of Cristina Torres Gómez.
