Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man found with an empty gun barrel and stocked spare magazine was captured in Playa del Carmen Sunday. The 33-year-old man from Colima was arrested by police after residents in Nicte Ha reported hearing gun fire.
Emergency 911 operators sent police and elements of the navy as backup to a building in the residential neighborhood of 15th Bis Avenue and Juan Escutia Street where they found shell casings on the ground.
Nearby, they located a man, Salvador “N”, wearing a fanny pack around his waist. Sticking out of his fanny pack was the handle or grip of a gun. A security inspection revealed the firearm and stocked magazine.
The police statement did not elaborate on the gun fire that was heard and subsequently reported by area residents.
