Irapuato, Guanajuato — Six people inside a taxi were killed early Sunday after their cab was hit by a truck. The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. in the town of Irapuato when the taxi driver and his five passengers were traveling along a central avenue.
According to Guanajuato media, the driver of an SUV traveling at excessive speed slammed into the back of the cab. The old model SUV was found overturned near the site. The taxi was pushed up onto a sidewalk where inside, first responders located six dead people.
The taxi had just picked up the five passengers from a bar in the Álvaro Obregón neighborhood and was only meters into the trip when it was hit. The driver of the SUV was arrested. Inside his vehicle was one woman who was found with minor injuries.
