Santiago Cuautlalpan, State of Mexico — A tractor trailer driver who miscalculated his height crashed through a pedestrian bridge, causing it to collapse. The accident was recorded by security feed on Monday afternoon along the Mexico-Texcoco highway.
The trailer is seen approaching the area at a high rate of speed. While the cab of the unit cleared the bridge, the trailer did not. The impact caused the entire section of bridge to collapse onto traffic below.
The long section of the bridge fell directly behind the cab. Due to its length, several other vehicles were damaged. The four lanes of highway in that single direction were also fully blocked.
The driver of the semi unit received only minor injuries and did not require a hospital transfer. No deaths or other injuries were reported in the accident.
