Holbox, Q.R. — Land has been allocated for CFE submarine distribution lines to power the island of Holbox. On Monday, the properties were officially earmarked with their publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation.
According to the publication, 74 square meters of land has been allocated by the Secretary of the Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) located in the towns of Holbox and Chiquilá, in the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas.
The land has been granted for use by service of CFE Distribución, a production company subsidiary of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), which will allow the introduction of underground wiring to supply the island of Holbox with electricity.
According to the Gazette, the land is a surface of 74.05 m2 of the federal maritime land zone, located on the Coastal Boulevard Chiquilá Bay, Municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas, to place an X- type manhole for high-voltage cables in the Chiquilá pier for the transition from underground to submarine cable.
Last year, the CFE added a new submarine electric cable for the island of Holbox to its list of projects to be completed in 2022.
