Cancun, Q.R. — Residents in the state of Quintana Roo are some of the happiest in the country. According to an Enbiare survey released by INEGI, the position was gained after the state regained its first place position in the generation of jobs and subsequent reduction of poverty.
The generation of jobs and reduction of poverty has shown to improve not only income, but also spirit and overall well-being, says the report.
The Encuesta de Bienestar Autorreportado (Enbiare) 2021 report, released by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi), registered residents in the state of Quintana Roo as having the lowest percentage of depression in the country at 11.5 percent, compared to neighbors in Campeche at 14.7 percent, and in the state of Yucatan at 16.7.
The Enbiare 2021 survey is part of the Better Life Initiative: Measuring Well-Being and Progress, promoted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which has developed guidelines to measure the well-being of people and the progress of societies at an international level.
