Riviera Maya, Q. R. — Quintana Roo ranks second in Mexico with the most drug packages found being shipped through courier companies. According to National Guard, during the month of September, 229 packages of drugs were seized from courier companies around the country.
The packages were located by narcotic dogs during searches in 16 states. The searches were conducted from September 1 to 30, 2023 “with the mission of inhibiting the trafficking of illicit substances and objects,” they explained.
National Guard found a total of 43 packages in the state of Jalisco during the month of September followed by the state of Quintana Roo with 34. Other states where courier company packages were reviewed included Nuevo León, Sinaloa, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Sonora, Guanajuato, Aguascalientes, Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Veracruz and Zacatecas.
“In addition to finding narcotics, elements of the institution also seized electronic cigarettes and various products made from the substance,” they reported since the sale of e-cigarettes are illegal in Mexico.
