Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Three Puerto Morelos taxi drivers have been arrested for assaulting a potential Uber passenger. Their arrests were announced late Wednesday night. “The FGE of Quintana Roo arrested three taxi drivers from Puerto Morelos involved in an assault on a user of the digital platform service,” the agency said.

Police say the three cab drivers were arrested after being identified in a social media video where they are seen intimidating a tourist and forcing him to cancel his arrived Uber service and use their taxi service instead.

In a statement, police said they arrested “three people, taxi drivers by trade, who were fully identified after the publication on social networks of a video where it is seen how they intimidate a tourist to force him to cancel a transportation service on the digital platform.”

The Puerto Morelos cab drivers have been identified by police as Alberto Daniel “N”, José Alberto “N” and Brayan “N”, members of the César Martín Rosado Taxi Drivers Union of Puerto Morelos.

“At the time of their capture, they had the vehicles involved in the attack seized,” police added in their statement.
