Riviera Maya, Q.R. — General Oscar David Lozano Águila says the Maya Train is days away from recording its one-millionth passenger. The Tren Maya General Director says the train is fully operational with 1,554 kilometers of rail across the states of Yucatan, Campeche, Tabasco, Chiapas and Quintana Roo.

He says with the upcoming Easter holidays, they are expecting to surpass the one-millionth train passenger. He explained that all 34 stations, except for the one in Tenosique, Tabasco which will open its facilities on May 31, are currently operating.
According to Lozano Águila, they have seen a 22 percent increase in passengers month-over-month, figures, he says, that are pushing them close to reaching train traveler one million.
“We’ve been increasing train occupancy by 22 percent per month. This is a huge step forward. We’re meeting the requirements for effectiveness and safety.
“We’re doing well and we’re delivering results more than a year after its inauguration. We’re days away from reaching our one millionth passenger,” he said. The General Director said these results are achieved as a team with the Federal Tourism Secretariat, state and municipal governments, in particular, Governor Mara Lezama.
He also highlighted the support of legislators, who he says, are the voice of the Mexican people and who are helping to promote the local train and airports.

“We’re working as a team to get people to look to the southeast to enjoy their vacations. The south is a great opportunity to explore and take advantage of the infrastructure that has been built in parallel with the comprehensive Maya Train project,” said Lozano Águila.
