Police manned intersections in areas that were affected by the sudden blackout.

The widespread blackout reported in northwestern Playa del Carmen affected residents in Villas del Sol, Palmas I, Galaxias del Carmen and Real Ibiza, among others.

Traffic police were brought in to direct vehicles since street and traffic lights in the blackout zone were not working. One huge section of west Playa del Carmen was seen blacked against a lite avenue that had power.

Numerous businesses, including Plaza Las America and the new City Hall, were also affected by the mass power outage.

A distinct line of lights and no lights divides a busy PDC avenue Tuesday night.

A CFE crew was seen at an area substation at the intersection of Luis Donaldo Colosio and 125th Avenues shortly before 8:00 p.m. Crews worked into the night to restore electricity by around 2:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Crews arrived shortly before 8:00 p.m.

The CFE has not reported on a cause for the latest blackout. In June, residents in Palmas Turquesa had their power restored after nearly 40 hours when CFE traced the fault to an intentionally cut line.
