Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen police have taken an American hotel guest into custody for domestic violence. The incident happened Friday at a Riviera Maya hotel north of the city of Playa del Carmen.
Municipal SSC officers were at the hotel in response to the report of an aggressive man who had assaulted his partner and her daughter. SSC (Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana) officers of Playa del Carmen were notified of the assault after the victim called 9-1-1.
The assault happened inside the Riviera Maya hotel room where they were staying. Specialized police officers (GEAVIG) trained in family violence also attended the scene. In custody is 38 year old American Juan “N”.
“The Playa del Carmen Citizen Security Secretariat arrested one person for his probable involvement in the crime of domestic violence at a hotel located on the Playa del Carmen–Puerto Morelos federal highway,” the SSC said in a statement Friday.
“Municipal police responded to a 911 report of an aggressive individual inside a hotel. At the scene, the victim reported that her partner had physically and verbally assaulted her, as well as her minor daughter, in the room where they were staying. The victims were treated by specialized personnel from the GEAVIG Group and received immediate medical attention.
“Juan “N,” 38, originally from the United States, was arrested and handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation.”
On Thursday, SSC police arrested an American man from a Puerto Aventuras hotel for assault.
A Riviera Maya hotel guest police have identified as 43 year old Yah “N” was arrested after allegations of punching another hotel guest in the face while intoxicated. That hotel guest was left with an injury to his left eye.
