American arrested in Puerto Aventuras hotel for assaulting another guest

Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — An American man was arrested inside a Puerto Aventuras hotel Thursday for assault. Police say the man, identified as 43 year old Yah “N”, was taken into custody for assaulting another hotel guest.

The arrest was made by SSC (Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana) officers of Playa del Carmen responding to a report of an aggressive guest inside the Riviera Maya hotel. When they arrived, they were told by the victim that the man was intoxicated and punched him in the face for no reason. The victim was left with an injury to his left eye.

After being punched, the injured hotel guest requested the presence of police who arrived and arrested American Yam “N” who was being held by hotel security.

In a statement, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) said “the Playa del Carmen Citizen Security Secretariat arrested an individual for his probable involvement in the crime of assaulting a guest inside a hotel located on the Puerto Aventuras-Akumal federal highway.

“Municipal Police officers responded to a report of an aggressive guest inside a hotel, where security personnel had detained an individual accused of physically assaulting another person.

“The victim stated that the detainee was intoxicated and, for no apparent reason, punched him in the face, causing an injury to his left eye.

“The detainee, Yah “N,” 43, originally from the United States, was arrested and taken to the State Attorney General’s Office for legal proceedings.”
