Cancun, Q.R. — A suspect police had been searching for in relation to the shooting of three men has been captured in Yucatan. Local authorities say Yucatán police have arrested a man wanted for aggravated homicide and attempted homicide
Eduardo “N”, alias “Lalo” and/or “Ratón”, was arrested for his alleged involvement in a shooting along Huayacán Avenue on July 22. At the scene, police found one dead man and two others injured.

“The State Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with its counterpart in Yucatán, executed an arrest warrant against Eduardo “N”, alias “Lalo” and/or “Ratón”, for his probable involvement in acts possibly constituting the crimes of aggravated homicide and attempted aggravated homicide, against three victims,” police in Cancun reported.
The events for which Eduardo “N” is being investigated occurred on the night of July 22 of this year, when officers were carrying out duties inherent to their functions near a bank located on Huayacán Avenue in Cancun.
“There, they observed two individuals traveling on a motorcycle who had allegedly participated in a shooting that resulted in the death of a man,” they said.
“Upon noticing this situation, the police officers initiated a foot chase to apprehend the aggressors; one of them, who was unable to get back on the motorcycle, allegedly fired his firearm to take down the officers, so the commander repelled the attack and wounded the driver of the vehicle, while the other subject continued fleeing toward 135th Avenue.
“During the pursuit, the commander was deliberately run over by a black Malibu vehicle in which there were presumably accomplices of the criminals, who were protecting their escape.”

Police say according to their investigations, Eduardo “N” is the leader of a criminal group that generates violence and is dedicated to selling drugs in the municipality of Playa del Carmen.
He had a conflict with the deceased victim over a debt related to drug distribution and was allegedly the mastermind behind the events.
Following his arrest, the suspect was transferred to Cancun where he was placed at the disposal of local authorities. He is facing charges for his possible involvement in aggravated homicide and attempted aggravated homicide.

Police added that two others identified as José de Jesús “N” and Dina Saría “N”, were arrested and connected to the shooting. Both have been ordered two years of preventive detention.
