Cancun, Q.R. — Police say a man and woman are being investigated for their involvement in aggravated homicide and attempted homicide. José de Jesús “N” and Dina Saraí “N” are under investigation for the July 22 incident that left one dead and an officer nearly run over.
According to the Investigative Police, a Cancun judge has issued a formal indictment against them for their alleged involvement in aggravated homicide and attempted homicide against a commanding officer.
The pair were arrested in Villahermosa, Tabasco shortly after the July 22, 2026 incident in Cancun.
According to police, on July 22 of this year, “a commander of the Investigation Police and another officer were carrying out their work near a bank located on Huayacán Avenue where they noticed an attack with a firearm in which two subjects participated.”
Police said both officers intervened via a pursuit at which time one of them shot at police while escaping on board a motorcycle.
“The commander returned fire and wounded the motorcycle driver while traveling along Huayacán Avenue towards 135th Avenue,” they reported.
Cancun authorities said “during the chase, the commander was deliberately run over by a black Malibu vehicle, on board which there were presumably accomplices of the criminals, who were protecting their escape.”
At the scene, they arrested Octavio de Jesús “N”, the driver of the motorcycle, who later died from the injuries he suffered during the attempted escape.
“Regarding the individuals arrested in Tabasco, it was possible to establish that on the day of the events they arrived on a motorcycle at the parking lot of a self-service store on Huayacán Avenue where they remained in surveillance and observed the victim identified as Jesús “N”, who arrived at said point in his Ford truck to buy marijuana from Víctor Teodoro “N”, alias “El Tata”, who is already connected to the events.
“Later, Jesús “N” was killed by a hitman who was traveling on a motorcycle with Octavio “N”.”
Police say the hitman ran toward Huayacán Avenue where José de Jesús “N” and Dina Saraí “N” were waiting for him on a black motorcycle.
Police said formal charges have been filed against José de Jesús “N” and Dina Saraí “N” for their probable involvement in acts possibly constituting the crimes of aggravated homicide and attempted homicide.
