Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Police closed a dirt road Monday after confirming the report of a dead body. The body of an adult man was reported by local residents on the mainland of Isla Mujeres Monday morning.
The victim has only been identified as a male whose body showed signs of violence.
On Monday morning, a call to emergency services alerted authorities to the discovery of a body on the mainland’s El Mariachi neighborhood. The report was made by residents on 22nd Street just a few meters from the road leading to the Rancho Viejo fair.
Municipal Police officers arrived and confirmed the report. Authorities at the C5 Security Complex were notified and paramedics sent to verify the death. Paramedics confirmed the man was dead and that the body displayed bruises and wounds that could have been caused by a knife.
Local authorities are investigating.
