Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Authorities have seized a motorcycle and arrested two people responsible for shooting at PDC officers. The Playa del Carmen officers were fired upon Monday morning while patrolling the In-House neighborhood after citizen reports of armed men.
The shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. when municipal police officers stopped two people riding a motorcycle on Constituyentes Avenue near 115th Avenue North following the reports of the armed men.
Instead of stopping, the driver of the bike fled west into a residential area, firing at police along the way. At least four bullets are reported to have hit the patrol unit during the chase.
A search operation that included additional officers lead to their eventual location and subsequent arrests. The area of the arrests was cordoned off while the corresponding investigation was carried out. There were no injuries to any of the law enforcement officers in the attack.
