Tulum, Q.R. — A Sunday afternoon drowning has been reported in the municipality of Tulum. A 19-year-old tourist from the state of Puebla was pronounced on the Santa Fe beach around 2:30 p.m.
On duty lifeguards attempted to revive the teen, but he was non-responsive to their efforts. Identification found in the jeans he was wearing at the time identified him as José Antonio “S”. The youth was pronounced on the beach after paramedics from the Tulum Fire Department performed CPR without any response.
Local media have reported the youth was intoxicated at the time of his drowning, however, authorities have not confirmed that information.
