Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Playa del Carmen pedestrian died Sunday afternoon after being run over by a company bus. The accident was reported to police by witnesses who said the man was crossing the street when he was struck.
The victim was found laying on Luis Donaldo Colosio Avenue between 30th and 35th streets after, according to witnesses, he was hit and dragged for several meters by the bus. The driver of the bus eventually came to a stop, locating the male pedestrian under his front wheels.
A large group of people quickly gathered near the scene of the fatal accident. Paramedics pronounced the unnamed pedestrian dead. Playa del Carmen Transit Police were notified of the death and arrived to control the angry crowd and cordon off the area while statements were taken and the body removed.
