Cancun, Q.R. — The Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo reports that, as a result of investigative research, the criminal gang leader of Playa del Carmen has been arrested.
In a public statement, la Fiscalía General del Estado de Quintana Roo reported that members of the National Guard and Federal Police enforced an arrest warrant against Jonathan N for the crime of attempted murder.
Jonathan N is said to be head of the criminal group known as Los Pelones in the municipality of Solidaridad. At the time of his arrest, he was found carrying a firearm and several doses of cocaine and marijuana.
In a brief press conference, Montés De Oca announced the arrest of Jonathan N in SM 51 of Cancun, who has been identified as highly dangerous and a generator of violent events mainly in the municipality of Solidaridad.
Montés De Oca said his capture is related to an event that occurred in the irregular residential area of In-House on January 28 of this year in Playa del Carmen where he attacked a group of people who were on public roadways, shooting them with a firearm.
He is also linked to a homicide that occurred on September 12 in the same area of In-House in the municipality of Solidaridad.
He added that he is presumed linked to the recent death of a young Colombian woman who, before her death, received extortion messages that came from the phone of Jonathan N.
