Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The body of a female found in a green area of Playa del Carmen has been positively identified with the help of her consulate.
In a press release, the State Attorney General’s Office reports that on September 17, the body of a non-Mexican female was located in colonia Campestre in Playa del Carmen. La Fiscalía General del Estado says that with help of the Colombian Consulate, they were able to positively identify the young woman.
The woman has been identified as 22-year-old Daniela P. from Bello Antioquia, Colombia. Daniela relocated to Playa del Carmen from Colombia on prospects of a better life after becoming involved in trafficking. Reports say Daniela had been deceived during her trip by a friend with the promise of a better job. Shortly after her arrival, she was captured by a trafficking network.
Her body was found left in a wooded green area September 17. La Fiscalía General del Estado says they will continue to carry out the necessary investigations while working with the Colombian Consulate.
