Mexican army track plane believed used to transport drugs

Bacalar, Q.R. — Elements of the 34th Military Zone report the discovery of a burned out plane located along the border area with Campeche. According to reports, military personnel made the discovery around 1:00 a.m. Friday, using their Comprehensive Air Surveillance System of the Mexican Air Force.

It was through this that they detected the unscheduled flight, which lead to a search after their radar lost contact with the plane. Elements were deployed and by 1:00 a.m., found the downed Cessna in a field. Its license number has been erased.

While no cargo was located on board, elements of the army carried out a ground search in the event it was removed and hidden in nearby jungle. The plane is believed used to transport drugs.

So far, there has not been an announcement of any arrests or the seizure of narcotics.
