Tlaquepaque, Jalisco — A massive fire completely consumed an auto parts warehouse Wednesday in Tlaquepaque. Civil Protection and firefighters from Guadalajara, Tlajomulco, Zapopan and Tlaquepaque were part of the fire-battling team.
Neighbors in the area reported several explosions as the fire intensified. A dense column of smoke several meters high could be seen around the metropolitan area.
Due to wind, the fire quickly spread, causing more than 70 people who lived near the warehouse to be evacuated. Dozens of firefighters worked to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading to another nearby warehouse.
There were no injuries reported, however, Tlaquepaque authorities did ask area resident stay indoors and close doors and windows due to the thick, toxic smoke.
